Littlefair’s Superior Wood Finishing Danish Oil has been specially formulated for finishing woodwork when a highly durable, natural looking, waterproof finish is required. This oil provides a tough natural finish excellent for waterproofing our Water Based Wood Dyes prior to waxing.

It can be used on all wood & sheet materials - doors, windows, floors, stair parts & furniture. However, if you are finishing a worktop please use our Superior Worktop Oil for a tough natural finish.

Great Product and service

Used with the wood stain to treat an Ikea Gerton beechwood table top. Really happy with the finish this has left.

Did have an issue where I had a tacky finish after my application, but was my fault. I thought leaving a little thicker layer, would produce a extradurable finish, but this was a mistake. As it was not able to cure correctly. I got in contact with customer service, and had a nice chat with marc who recommended that I used some white spirit to take this layer off. So I did that with some sand paper and I was able to sand/rub off the tacky layer. I was left with a smooth and strong finish, which was a relief.

So it important to wipe off the excess thoroughly, Take your time and don’t rush the process of curing and building up layers.

Littlefair's Danish oil .is the best of the best.

Absolute Magic. Easy to apply ( brush or cloth) fantastic finish, the grain really pops out when using this food safe oil. Littlefair's should take great pride in this and all their products. I like it just as much as their heavy duty water based gloss. For me , in future ,there is no other choice.

Preparation

Careful, thorough preparation will result in a far superior finish, especially when applied over Littlefair's Water-Based Wood Stain. 

(Please refer to the instructions on the stain). 

If you are dying the wood first, the final appearance will be a combination of the wood’s natural colour, the stain and the oil. It is always a good idea to prepare a test piece in exactly the same manner as your project. 

Ensure your wood is as clean as possible and free from previous finishes. Do not apply the stain to wet surfaces or if there is a risk of rain or frost. 

Application

Apply evenly with a good quality brush or cloth. Alternatively the oil can be sprayed. A light, thin coat will dry quicker but further coats will be required to create a durable, waterproof finish. Allow two to three hours to dry, then lightly rub back before applying a further coat. 

Normally, two coats can provide exceptional protection however, when applying over our Water-Based Wood Stains it is advisable to apply at least three coats - especially when used with darker colours. When finished, simply clean your equipment with white spirit. 

It’s important to note that the final appearance will be a combination of the wood’s natural colour, the effect of the stain (if used) and the oil. With this in mind - always produce a test piece so you can properly judge the result.
