First time restoring pine floorboards in the living room , I made a huge unforgiving mistake of using a gap filler that could not be sanded off the face edges of the boards. I'd put all that labour in , a very intimate job all done by hand ( no drum sander) which I quickly became very personally invested in.

You can imagine my disappointment at ruining all my hard work with this mistake as it took me weeks to do a large two sided living room.

However , i have accepted and grown to ( possibly love ) my mistake with the visible gap filler smears as it adds a warm tonality against the french oak darkness of the stain i applied.

This quick dry gloss varnish brought the otherwise muddy / dirty looking stained floor to life and I felt it beautified the floor.

So glad I bought this product and I highly recommend it.

P.s ( I don't recommend using a non sandable floor gap filler ) it will have you crying.

We used the floor stain and floor gloss varnish. It was applied to floorboards that are over 250 years old so it would have been too destructive to sand them down to a smooth finish and, because of old woodworm damage, we had to keep a stain underneath that was added about 40 years ago. However, we did sand it down with a palm sander to get a key and then gave them two coats of stain. We followed the excellent instructions to the letter for the varnish and got exactly the finish we wanted. Both stain and varnish were easy to apply and easy to clean brushes etc afterwards. It took 2days and it looks stunning. We couldn’t be happier with the finished effect and how easy it was to use.
Just one thing to watch out for, and this is nothing to do with the product, but if you are applying them to old boards that cannot be fully sanded the stain will ‘froth’ and leave spots if it isn’t brushed out fully. Easily dealt with of care is taken. Even though the boards weren’t fully sanded the stain really gave good coverage and ‘stuck’ to the old stain. Very pleased indeed!

Fantastic varnish, easy to apply, dries fast, very little odour

Quite the best floor varnish in the UK. We have spent a long time researching and testing floor products - stains and varnishes.
